About Shahada Institute
Shahada Institute is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping new Muslims build a strong, confident foundation in Islam. We are developing a free, scholar-reviewed educational app that provides structured guidance through the first months of a Muslim's journey—combining authentic Islamic knowledge with practical support for everyday life.
Our Vision:
A world where every person who embraces Islam has immediate access to trustworthy guidance, practical instruction, and a clear path toward becoming an active member of their local Muslim community.
Our Mission:
To equip every new Muslim with the knowledge, confidence, and support needed to begin practicing Islam with clarity and conviction.
We believe that no one should have to navigate the early days of Islam alone. By providing structured education that is both authentic and accessible, we aim to remove unnecessary barriers to learning and help new Muslims establish lifelong habits of worship and growth.
Why Shahada Institute Exists
Every year, 200,000 people embrace Islam with sincerity and enthusiasm. Yet many quickly discover that beginning life as a Muslim can be overwhelming. Questions about prayer, daily practice, family relationships, and community often arise immediately, while reliable beginner-focused resources remain fragmented across books, videos, websites, and social media.
Shahada Institute exists to bridge that gap by providing a structured, approachable learning experience designed specifically for the needs of new Muslims.
Our Educational Philosophy
-
Knowledge should be introduced in an order that reflects the realities of a new Muslim's daily life. Essential acts of worship and foundational beliefs come before advanced topics.
-
A beginner should leave each lesson feeling more confident—not more overwhelmed. Simplicity is not a compromise on authenticity; it is a teaching strategy.
-
Content is developed from recognized Islamic sources and reviewed before publication to ensure accuracy while presenting differences of opinion responsibly and respectfully.
-
When converts leave Islam, it’s generally because they are unable to handle the social pressures that come with conversion. Thus, converts need to know how to pray at work, navigate family relationships, find a local mosque, and develop a sustainable practice of faith.
-
Technology should strengthen—not replace—the role of local masjids, scholars, and Muslim communities.
